MARKETWATCH: The rise of Japanese collector cars is duly noted

Honda S360

We realize that here at JNC we sometimes get a bit too otaku for the casual Japanese car enthusiast, with liberal use of chassis codes, Japanese nicknames, and, well, words like otaku. For those of you just joining us, Hagerty Insurance, which specializes in classic and specialty cars, has recently published a primer of sorts about what’s in hot and what’s not. You might even recognize the photography and unique writing style.

As one of the largest classic car insurance companies in the US, Hagerty has taken notice of this, and begun wooing customers (it’s also why they sponsored Touge California). In a recent and somewhat humorous commercial, they even take a break from the usual muscle car fare to insert a rising sun ride. When we first started JNC nearly 10 years ago, whether Japanese cars could be classics was still commonly debated. These days, it’s treated as an inevitability.

Ha, always a creative read; good stuff, Ben.

Part of me (like, the 100% part) wants to keep this a secret, it’s hard enough to find great, relatively-inexpensive JNC cars now. It’s like Rick Steves telling a few million people about the best, most-secluded places to visit in Europe.. whoops..

Still, there are some secrets we will not give away.

Tried to get some quotes on some “entry level” J-Tin…..Hagerty told me “Piss Off” on my selections.
