Kidney, Anyone? 2450-mile Mazda RX-7

At this rate, your JNC editors are going to run out of kidneys by Wednesday. Not only have we seen a 1427-mile Mazda RX-4 and a 33,000-mile ’79 Honda Civic, now there’s a 1985 Mazda RX-7 with only 2450 miles on eBay. What’s going on here? Is the Great Depression Part Deux forcing owners to release these specimens into the free market?

According to the seller, who also happens to be the original owner, this creamy white RX-7 has a chocolate brown interior topped with a dash of orange pinstripe. Delicious. It has always been garaged, and driven around the block every month to keep things fresh. If you do the math, that’s an average of 9 miles per month.

At the time of this writing, the bidding is up to $1525. But the owner will part with what has been a fixture in his life for the past 23 years for a mere BuyItNow of $15,000. Seeing as how the last new RX-7 cost over $40K and this one is new for all intents and purposes, $15K is a bargain. Follow the jump for more pics.

Now that I can see going for $15K. It takes crazy dedication to have you’re toy sitting in the garage for almost 25yrs and only taking it around the block monthly. That thing is a beaut.

Tell me about it! I’m still trying to figure out how could s/he resist driving it!

That is a great looking car.

I own your twin sister, exactly the same color. Yes they are beauty. I need the car seats for my rx7 any idea where I can find them.

So can anybody tell me if this car sold and if so, for how much?

I ask because I have a similar car in storage. I bought it new
in 1985 and drove it regularly until I took a two-year job in Tokyo
back in 1989. The two years have now turned into twenty and
now face the likelyhood that I will never move back to California.

The last time I thought about selling it –a decade ago– somebody
told me it would probably go for $1,500, *maybe* $2,000. So I
    thought, hell, let it sleep.

It is actually a great conversation piece, even though its tires
haven’t touched so much as the concrete garage floor in years. 🙁
(I haven’t even pulled the cover off to inspect it since 2002.)
