For Sale: Victor Laury’s 1972 Datsun 240Z

No glib joke about kidneys today, because it’s with great sadness that we announce the sale of Vic Laury’s 1972 Datsun 240Z. He is no longer able to enjoy this car because of his recent health conditions, and must reluctantly offer it for sale. As most of you from SoCal know, Vic is a beloved figure among SoCal’s Datsun and nostalgic car community. He’d frequently volunteer to help with the major shows, and always brought his big-hearted, warm personality to any gathering, along with one of his beautiful Nissans. You may recognize him from his pale yellow Fairlady Roadster, mustard yellow 510521 pickup, or this beautiful 112 Yellow 240Z.

Because of his health, Vic has been in physical therapy for two years and hasn’t been able to enjoy his cars during that time. The 15×7 +0 SSR MkIIs this Z were purchased new two years ago, and have barely seen any use. As a mechanic for many years, Vic made sure all his cars ran impeccably. If you’ve seen this car in person at JCCS or any of the other SoCal Datsun gatherings you know the quality of its restoration. He is sad to see it go, but hopes it finds a good home. Go to eBay to see the full auction. Vic will also be at the Eagle Rock Datsun-Nippon swap meet on March 18 if you’d like to stop by and say hi.

Aren’t those MkII’s? Car looks great but it’s sad to hear about stories like this.

i really love those wheels. too bad about the car though. i had to sell my car (a hateful ’85 mazda 626) and immediately regretted it. if i can miss that rubbish thing, then this has to hurt pretty bad. i just hope he’ll be ok health-wise and maybe can enjoy a good nostalgic once more

Let’s wish Vic a speedy recovery. I met him over four years ago when I needed a crossmember for my Z. He gave me the part without asking for a dime. He is a rare kind of car guy and has good taste in 60/70s Datsuns. Showed me some of his driving on YouTube and he can make his 510 and Fairlady Roadster dance.

There’s a link to the eBay auction in the article. You can ask the seller a question there. I’m sure he would reasonable entertain non-auction offers as well.

Hey Ben is this swap meet Victor is attending a different event from the flyer listed? As its stated on the event being on March 18 for the swap meet flyer/ad. While you have him listed as going to the swap meet event on March 16… Is this info correct or a minor mistake?
