Boyd Coddington Custom 17 & 18 Inch Celica Supra Wheels

The Toyota Celica Supra P-Type is one of the best looking OEM wheels ever made. The classic four-spoke alloy was delivered stock with the MA61 from 1982 to 1986, and although the L-Types had a 15×6 option, the wider P-Type 14×7 is the most desirable. Almost 30 years after their introduction, they’re a staple of any self-respecting Toyotaku’s garage stash, and make appearances on everything from AE86s to Cressidas.

Now, some enterprising enthusiasts on CelicaSupra.com have remade them in 17- and 18-inch sizes.

These neo-Supras were a custom project initiated by fans and machined by Boyd Coddington of street rod fame. All sizes are fitted to the Celica Supra so that no rubbing or offset issues will occur. The fitments are 17×7, 17×8, 17×10, 18×7, 18×8, 18×9 and 18×10 and cost approximately $2600 a set depending on size.

We’ve already seen the Volk TE37V, VTO Libre, and Enkei 92. Which vintage barrel will they remake next?

I love these wheels but there alittle out of my price range

  2. E-AT_me says:

there are only two things about these i don’t like. well, 3. one is they won’t fit anything i own. two is the price.. 3rd? the cool but impractical positioning of the valve stem..

  3. banpei says:

Can’t they make them in deep dish 15 inch instead? Would certainly love to buy a set in 15x10J for at the rear of my Carina! 😛

BTW: these rims were not only delivered on the Celica Supra Mk2, some Celica AA63s got them as an option as well and for a short period of time on the Lotus Eclat. Also in Japan they were delivered on the Soarer Z10, Carina AA63/TA63 and Corona AT141/TT140 as the default rims.
Still would love to get my hands on a set of Soarer centercaps for mine! 🙂

  4. JT191 says:

They look really, really neat. The only concern is if a spun aluminum rim is up to hard road use. Boyd’s work is usually trailer queens that do not see use on the street. The Supra group looks like it is made up of people who drive their cars and drive them quite vigorously. Especially given the wheel width, low profile tire choice, and specific design for clearance over the big brake kits. But there is no doubt the appearance is exceptional.

  5. Tyler says:

With all these and the RML Snowflakes (inspired by Rabbit GTI’s), it looks like vintage wheels are making a big comeback!

  6. Kenny says:

I believe the company will make other sizes as the center cad is on file.

  7. bert says:

@JT191- They do look awesome! I’ve never been a fan of big custom wheels on the Celica Supra. But make the stock wheels look custom? Now I’m foaming at the mouth! I hear you on the concerns about the trailer queen wheels, but I believe it was Boyd Coddington wheels on a Plymouth Barracuda that recently beat a Ferrari Enzo to 200mph!! I can’t remember where I saw the video for this, but it was in the last few months>

  8. vballin says:

@ banpei – Yes, but none of those cars were available in the US, hence the name “Supras”

  9. cesariojpn says:

    Stopped reading after “Boyd Coddington.”

  10. AAR-bob says:

Boyd Coddington is history as in RIP. Viper owners have the same issues with their light weight racing type wheels bending. I don’t care if the ex Coddington people are making these or not, They are pretty bad ass. I was planning on changing over to 5 lug and it does not look like these will take a 5 lug pattern, oh well. I need 18×13’s for the rear any way. If your going to run with vettes and vipers with a turbo 600 hp engine you better be able to hook er up when the turbo kicks in coming out of the corners so yes, I do need 13 + of rubber back there. width is no issue as my car will be an AAR Celica replica built like an old school trans am or GTU car.

    “The classic four-spoke alloy was delivered stock with the MA61 from 1982 to 1986” – Aren’t they 8-spoke? ;P

For my 2% of a buck, I think it’s an awesome idea. Good on the peeps who designed them for making it happen. The only thought I have is that I’d like to see the centre plate and the hub cap a bit bigger/chunky. It looks a wee bit undersize, but that’s just me.

  12. Kenny says:

    hey Bob, over on race-cars.com there’s a set of 16×13.5 Jongbloeds 4×114.3 $500

  13. Lincoln Stax says:

    Do want.

But if I bought a set, I’d have to buy a car to put them on.

  14. Alexx Supra XX says:

Ive seen these in person this year at Vegas. And all I can say is WOW!!! I want a set my self but to be the same has never been my thing. However if I get a 2nd MK2 I would consider it allot!

  15. I agree with the above comment about the hub looking small, being dwarfed by the new overall size of the spokes. I think they should be a little bigger and more prominent/aggressive in the design. Still I love ‘throwbacks’ like this one.

  16. byron says:

I would love a set of does for my pelican supra 5m he how much is the set running for

  17. My G says:

    Do the teardrops next…Mk3

  18. Noah says:

My brother sent the request, design, and amount needed for the first set of these rims

  19. I think they’re fantastic, I have 2 85 Celica gt-s’. I always had a hard time finding wheels to fit my gt’s, and still all the rims that’s available, I don’t like them! Most of them, I think they Suck! Now on the other hand, the original wheels are the Best, and now there are new sizes. Now we’re cooking! I plan to purchase two sets of the reproduction gets wheels.

  20. Redp85 says:

iirc aboht 10 sets were sold.
    Garage queens for sure.

  21. Disruptive says:

I like the center piece with the dragon on the last picture. where can I order those? and would they got the stock wheels?

  22. Disruptive says:

I meant: would the center piece fit the stock Celica GTS wheels.

  23. David Hernandez says:

    Iike the rims

  24. Elmor says:

    Awesome

  25. cliff lee says:

    how to order

  26. Charlie says:
