MINICARS: Hot Wheels X JNC Mitsubishi Starion/Chrysler Conquest

IMG_6669c

StarQuest fans rejoice, as we at JNC are proud to announce the newest Hot Wheels to don our trademark inkan — the Chrysler Conquest! Our lips have been sealed shut for months, however with its imminent release to the pegs, we felt that it is time to break our silence.

Another design from the Father of Hot Wheels Nostalgics, Jun Imai, the 1:64 scale 80s flagship sports the factory widebody box flares along with period “TURBO” graphics on the door. Beautifully detailed combination tail lights also garnish the area below the cohesive rear spoiler.

Finished in silver, it’s the quintessential sports coupe from the Turbo Era. And finally, a subtle JNC inkan is printed on the rear window. Expect it to hit the pegs sometime this week.

P.S. It’s April 1stUPDATE: So yeah, this was a cruel, heartless April Fools’ Day joke. This is not an official Mattel release, but all of you should definitely go and check out this guy blistercards’ (or sometimes he goes by simply “nostalgic”) work on his website.

Dude, I know a guy who works for Hot Wheels, and I was going to get ahold of him asap to get me one. You guys don’t suck…but I almost said that… you dudes rule…this is not an april fools joke. Happy first doods.

Sorry to spoil the fun… If Jun would make this a reality, I would buy a ton of them just to make sure it didn’t disappear like the Hako or the Kenmari.

  5. gaston rahier says:

got dammmmm it thats not funny!!!!!

  6. Zuzechan says:

You guys get me every year. :-/ I’ve had dreams about that Honda joke! Only to return back to reality in the morning…

  7. Power Tryp says:

I should have seen it was a fake. The detail work is just too good for mass production. I am gullible.

  8. Myron says:

Oh, you guys suck. I was all excited to find this and add it to my vintage Hot Wheel collection. You don’t suck overall, just for this joke (which isn’t funny by the way) but you got me good.

  9. John M says:

Got me on the car, but I was thinking Jun was in a different position. Also, not sure if that car was cold, but that JNC decal definitely seems to be dealing with some shrinkage issues.

  10. Ben says:

Nice one! It needed the hotwheels logo on the side of the car on the rear panel somewhere to make it a little more authentic…

  11. conan says:

Nice wind up…..would definitely buy one if hotwheels made one though…

  12. XRaider927 says:

  13. Ryan "J3wman" Senensky says:

  14. Ryan "J3wman" Senensky says:

Every year people take posts on april fool seriously i love it

  15. Randy says:

Okay, so I LIKE the other Hot Wheels releases, but this is the first one that actually would have dragged me into my local K-Mart. I’d be THE customer that day…

Maybe the dude who made that could make a bunch more for us! I’ll take the narrow-body (no side mods, so easier!) in burgundy, with a “rust” interior, thanks. Six bucks apiece, right?

(Six months to build – DAAAAAaaaaaammmmmmnnnnnnn!!!)

    Happy New Year!

  16. Dave says:

I was had by this. But only briefly

  17. Bobby C says:

WHAT??!!! WHY?!? I HAVE a silver ’89 Chrysler Conquest sitting in my driveway. I collect japanese nostalgic Hot Wheels. Can you imagine how many times I have thought “They should really do the Starquest!” I was so ready to race out to Target…

  18. Channing G says:

I was ready to go buy one of these! Damn!
