Kidney, Anyone? 1977 Datsun F10 Wagon

Another garage-stored east coast car comes out of hiding, this time in Rhode Island. Ladies and gentlemen, may we present to you this cherry Datsun Cherry. That’s the Japanese market name for the 1977 Datsun F10, the diminutive front-wheel-drive coupe that ushered in both Nissan‘s front-wheel-drive age and the “atomic cockroach” design theme. This is actually the second gen Cherry, and like many 70s Datsuns sold by its chassis code rather than the JDM name.

Its polarizing styling translated into poor sales, but that’s what makes the example in question a rare, rare piece of Nissan history. the period avocado green paint and white vinyl interior really make it a standout. The rear bumper, which appears to be a wooden I-beam, is disconcerting, but makes it the ideal candidate for a JDM thin-bumper swap. The $5000 asking price is quite steep, but guarantees it will go to a good home. Plus, two-door wagons are just cool. P.S. There’s also a ’78 coupe in SoCal.

Almost extinct here too, very nice car!

$5000 is a lot of money for an F10, but on the other hand, if it’s in as good a condition as it appears, it isn’t that much of a stretch to justify the price.

Kicking myself for not buying the pristine SoCal one for $3000…

NOT the one linked to in the post, by the way. Dark blue hatch. 🙂
